2012 - What's the deal?

Over the course of 2012, I've decided that I'm going to run 1 million metres which will include the Reading half marathon and first ever Sierra Leone marathon

I'd be a fool to do this without a charity in mind so the charity I've chosen is the Oxford Transplant Foundation...

5 years ago, my friend Adam needed a new kidney and was lucky enough to get a transplant after a little girl tragically died.  The average life of a kidney obtained in this way is 8 years (although they could last  20) and I rather like Adam (hopefully he won't see this) so if I can help to keep him alive just a little bit longer by doing this, then that's what I'm going to do!

So this is the start of my story, how far I've run and how much I've raised.  Distance will be taken from the GPS on my phone (I'm hoping that when it lies, it'll average itself out) and money raised will be taken from my fund raising page on the Just Giving website - http://www.justgiving.com/1millionmetrechallenge

So wish me luck and keep an eye on how things are going by following this blog.  Oh, you could always donate a few pennies too with the link above ;-)

Have a Merry Christmas and I'll be back in the new year!
